I often blog about the importance of antioxidants for the skin and general health and was therefore keen to read this week that walnuts have been described as an excellent source of protective treats.
According to Joe Vincen, chemistry professor at the University of Scrante, Pensylvania, walnuts contain twice as many antioxidants as other commonly consumed nuts.
It is also reported that the modest walnut's antioxidants are 15 times more potent than those found in other antioxidant sources such as vitamin E.
Antioxidants protect the body from free radicals, the harmful entities responsible for the development of cancer, heart disease and some neurological diseases, to name a few.
They have a similar effect when applied topically, where they protect the skin from free radicals in UVA sunlight and from pollutants in the atmosphere.
Rosehip is also an excellent natural source of antioxidants – another reason to invest in our new rosehip bio-regenerate 😉
So take a Waldorf salad or a cereal bar this weekend and feel how walnut goodness grips you!
